An adventure Awaits Us!

I think this is my favorite of this series; it has the most variety of colors and temperature. This piece features two characters in the silhouette, standing on top of a hill overhead a valley and train tracks. I wanted to emulate something similar to a kids' fairytale illustration: drawing solid shapes for clouds and hills, and shading with an airbrush-like texture. The castle in the distance was initially going to be a mountain range. Overall, this was the piece I had the most fun seeing the results of.

The Sun is Rising but the City's Still Asleep

For this piece, I wanted to challenge myself a bit and draw the cityscape in 3D, as most of the pieces so far have been valleys and paths. Surprisingly, there are a lot more dark values than I expected; I'm naturally drawn to using bright, soft colors but in this drawing, dark purples and reds take up about two-thirds. And it turned out pretty well, too. I was also unsure about what to do with the windows of the apartment in the foreground, but I eventually left them uncolored and let the sunset in the background layers fill out the spaces.

A Walk in the Park

Digital media

This piece, titled "A Walk in the Park (but it's Sort of Also the Future)", was originally a tiny panel I had previously drawn for my comic. What I did was simply resizing and redrawing it, with the same composition and color scheme. The story was set in the future, around 100 years from now and it was around winter time, so I used a mix of cold colors to define some of my linework as well as using pinks and purples to contrast against the coolness.
